There are nine phases to the update. Consultants Mintier and Associates were hired for Phase one and two and
made the Tuesday presentation to a joint meeting of the Board of Supervisors
and Planning Commission.
Phase one, program initiation, is currently underway. Phase two
is the creation of a baseline report, which essentially describes the current
state of the county.
Six community workshops will be held beginning May
1 and lasting through part of June.
Following Mintier's
presentation, several community members raised concerns about items in the
update including the timeline, program and the inclusion of global warming
principles, bikes paths and childcare.
The consultant and county staff addressed most of
the concerns and encouraged the public to stay involved in the process.
A timeline of events says the entire General Plan
Update will be complete by February of 2009.
