Philosophy

• To strive toward community empowerment to protect our quality of life.
• To work together to find solutions and balance between a healthy economy, growth, and a safe and beautiful rural community.

Positions

a. We support what benefits the community as a whole.

b. We strongly favor smart growth as defined by the 'California Planning Guide': "Development that serves the economy, the community, and the environment." That definition implies participation and cooperation from representatives of each of these areas.

c. Carefully plan for growth.

d. Update inadequate and conflicted Calaveras County General Plan.

e. Update the Valley Springs Community Plan and include all area residents in this process.

f. Update the Valley Springs Community Plan within the framework of a comprehensive county General Plan update.

g. Encourage public participation in all phases of the planning process.

h. Support a democratic and transparent planning process.

i. Preserve the quality of our rural life.

j. Create an Oak Tree Protection Ordinance.

k. Development fees should reflect actual costs to the county and taxpayers in order to provide for the community's safety, health, and welfare.
